Tax Office
The Tax Office is responsible for the billing and collection of real
estate taxes, delinquencies, and billing adjustments. Taxes are due
quarterly on
February 1, May 1, August 1, and November 1.
Payment must reach our office
no later than the 10th of each tax
quarter.  Payments after the 10th will accrue interest from the due
date of the 1st.

Veterans and senior citizens may be eligible for tax deductions.
Please call or visit during Tax Office business hours for forms,
applications, and/or more information about these tax deductions.

The 2011 total real estate tax
includes the following 5 rates:
1. Local Purpose = $0.099
2. School = $1.129
3. County = $0.832
4. County Open Space = $0.020
5.
Municipal Open Space = $0.020
Total = $2.100

Each taxing authority is responsible for determining their tax rate.
The local purpose tax is set by the Township Committee to generate
funds for the operation of the municipality.  The school tax is set by
the Board of Education for educating the children of Upper
Pittsgrove from kindergarten through 12th grade.  The county tax is
set by the Board of Chosen Freeholders for the operation of Salem
County.  The two open space tax rates (county and municipal) are
assessed for the dedication of land for open space, including
farmland preservation.  The five tax rates are added together and
multiplied by your  assessment to give you the total real estate taxes
that you will be responsible for paying each year.  The tax rate is
based on each $100 of the assessed value of your property. The
assessed value of your property is determined by the municipal Tax
Assessor.

Farmland Assessment information is available through the Tax
Assessor.  The 2011 cover letter and Farmland Assessment form are
now online on the
Forms & Downloads page.  The Farmland
Assessment Application is due August 1, 2011.
 If you have any
questions regarding your assessment please contact the Tax
Assessor on Tuesday evenings or by
email.  For general information
